Mt. Cook From The Port Hills

Sir,—Allow me to correct an error in the article “Plea for Plane Table on the Port Hills.” Looking from the Sugar Loaf the north peak of Mount Cook was very clear against the western sky about 9 p.m. tonight. With binocular, Mount Dampier could be seen. Coming down to Cashmere I made careful observations. Soon after passing the Sign of the Kiwi the middle peak comes into view, and the high peak does not disappear behind the southern ridge of Mount Wlnterslow till well past Victoria park. The middle peak can Still be seen from the vicinity of the first houses at the top of Cashmere. The low peak would be hard to see. It is almost directly behind the middle peak.—Yours, etc, D. HALLIDAY. January 19, 1967.
