TALKS ON WAR WITH POPE

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, January 15. The British Prime Minister, Mr Wilson, is expected to discuss the Vietnam war and recent abortive British peace initiatives with the Pope at the Vatican on Tuesday.

Mr Wilson and the British Foreign Secretary, Mr George Brown, will be received in an audience by Pope Paul towards the end of their twoday visit to Rome for Common Market talks with the Italian Government.

his meeting with Mr Wilson and Mr Brown comes less than a month before the British leaders hold talks in London with the Soviet Prime Minister, Mr Kosygin.

The Pope gave strong moral backing to the British New Year peace bid, which was accepted by Washington and Saigon, but rejected by Hanoi.
