Man Drowns In River
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. A 35-year-old man drowned in the Manawatu river at Palmerston North this afternoon. The man, whose name is being withheld until relatives have been notified, had been swimming in the river almost beneath the Fitzherbert bridge, on the outskirts of the city. He was seen diving into the river about 3.15 p.m. and when he did not surface a search was made for him. Skin-divers located ' his body nearby, several hours later.
