DAYLIGHT SAVING
Aucklanders’ Petition (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. Daylight petitioners in Auckland have collected 2000 signatures in an effort to persuade the Government to agree to an extra hour of daylight between Labour week-end and Easter each year.
The petition is being organised by Miss Valerie Poole, of Herne Bay, and two friends, who have advertised in newspapers and are sending forms to people interested.
“We want clocks advanced one hour at Labour week-end and put back one hour at Easter, so that there will be an extra hour of daylight in the evenings, instead of the wasted daylight in the mornings,” said Miss Poole. The organisers are uncertain about reaction in the South Island because of its longer twilights.
