ANTARCTIC STUDY
Space-Centre Scientists
Four members of the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration will arrive in Christchurch during the week-end on their way to McMurdo Station, Antarctica. They will be guests of the United States Antarctic Support Force and Antarctic Research Programme of the National Science Foundation. The scientists are Dr. Robert R. Gilruth, director of manned space craft tests, and Dr. Maxime A. Faget, assistant director for engineering and development, of Houston, Texas; and Dr. Wehmer von Braun, director of the George C. Marshall Space Flight Centre. Huntsville, Alabama, and Dr. Ernst Stuhlinger, director of the research projects division at the centre. They will visit Antarctica to see how men live in the adverse environment. They will visit Byrd Station, the Amundsen-Scott Station at the South Pole, Plateau Station, and Scott Base.
