Digby—Chilton: Mr and Mrs R. M. Chilton, No. 6 R.D., Ashburton, have very much pleasure in announcing the engagement of their eldest daughter, Jennifer Dian, to Robin Francis, third son of Mr and Mrs J. F. V. Digby, Green street, Ashburton.
Admitted Now.—The first women students have just been admitted to the Vldyalankara and Vidyodaya Universities of Ceylon. These two institutions were transformed a few years ago from seats of Buddhist learning, largely confined to monks, into universities. Now, Vidyalankara has admitted 273 women among its 560 new students, while Vidyodaya has 450 women among its 750 newcomers.—(Reuter.)
