LINE STOPS SERVICE
Whangarei To Lyttelton
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 21. The Northern Steamship Company, Ltd., will withdraw its three-weekly cargo service between Whangarei and east coast ports of the South Island. The last trip from Timaru and Lyttelton will be on January 30. The manager of the company, Mr A. G. Hardy, said the service was unprofitable because of the small quantity of cargo and the long haul from the South Island to Whangarei. “We’ve given it a fair go, but we can’t go on losing any more money,” he said.
