Air Strike Near Chinese Border

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, December 21. United States jets struck within 25 miles of the Chinese border and destroyed a railway bridge on one of the main supply routes into North Vietnam, a spokesman said today.

The FlO5 Thunderchief fighter - bombers yesterday blasted the bridge of the

main railway line at Lang Bun, in mountainous country 135 miles north-west of Hanoi. Flying against the same supply route, more Thunderchiefs used cannon and rockets to strafe the Trai Hut rail yards 111 miles northwest of the capital, and damaged some rolling stock. Continuing the daily air war over the North, American Navy A-4 Skyhawks from the carrier Enterprise flew in from the Gulf of Tonkin to destroy two more bridges 45 miles south of the coastal port of Vinh. The bridges were on routes leading to the demilitarised zone between the two Vietnams. Air Force aircraft meanwhile swept into the Dien Bien Phu area near the Laotian border and destroyed three highway bridges east of the town, a spokesman said.
