Christmas Cards

Sir, —While I agree with “New Idea” that a view of a child or animal study would be attractive on greeting cards as a change from the floral motif, might I suggest that Christmas cards are used at a time when Christians celebrate the birth of Christ, and that cards depicting the theme of Christ’s Nativity are most suitable.—Yours, etc., JOAN JOHNSTON. December 19, 1966.

Sir, —“New Idea” has raised a point which has been in the hearts of many Christian people for years. Has “New Idea” considered putting the true message of Christmas back into Christmas? After all, this is the time we acknowledge the birth of Christ. There is already a committee which has done

much to let Christ back into his own birthday celebrations, especially in raising the standard of Christmas cards. There are many cards available now which show the real theme of Christmas as well as some well-chosen verses from the Bible.—Yours, etc., THE IDEA. December 20, 1966.

[“New Idea” may briefly reply. Otherwise this correspondence is now closed. Ed., “The Press.”]
