“School Bus At Gate”
Sir,—l was interested to see the Lands and Survey Department advertising “School Bus at Gate” tor their Mount Parnassus house. This bus is subsidised by a local syndicate which the department refused to join but is obviously quite prepared to make use of.— Yours, etc., FARMER. ' December 6,1966. [Mr N. S. Coad, the Commissioner of Crown Lands, replies: “Isolation and lack of facilities are taken into account when fixing our farm employees' wages, and it is the normal policy for them to make their own arrangements with school committees and bus associations for transport of their children as they are in closer touch with local circumstances.”]
