Tn a close match the leader ef the senior water polo competition. Beckenham, had to work its players hard to beat ■ determined voung Wharenul team, by 6 goals to 3. The Wharenui players’ average age was only 19. The Beckenham captain, M. Scott, netted three goals, but the Wharenui goalkeeper. I. Farquhar, saved several other powerful shots.

Other scorers for Beckenham were F. McKenzie. L. Macintosh, and R. Henry. For Wharenui. L. Wilson (2) and McGirr scored.

Good Teamwork

With W. Williamson winning the swim-ups for University, the students dictated most of the play to beat Beckenham B. 9-6. Scorers for University were I. Gunthorp (4), I. MacDonald (2), G Leek (2), and K. Pearson. Evan Match The score In the Chrlst-ehurch-Jellie Park match alternated until the final whistle. »hen Christchurch led. 5-4 Jellie Park led. 2-1. at halftime. but the Christchurch forwards took the lead early in the third quarter. A. Chappell saved repeatedly hi the Jellie Park goal, but could not prevent P. Hatchwell (3) and K. Lanyon (2) from scoring. D. Steele, R. Pirie, B. Sutherland and Johnson scored tor Jellie Park.

Spreydan v. Elmwood Spreydon and Elmwood played out a Idvely 2-2 draw, with A. Lee scoring a good goal. Spreydon's other goal eame from a neat tip-in by I. Grieg. For Elmwood. C. Gurr and N. Chamberlain scored.
