Under-Age XIs Successful
Canterbury under-age cricket teams were successful in their matches against Otago at the Christ’s College grounds yesterday. The under-16 games was tied when Canterbury, set 176 to win, was 175 for five at stumps. Canterbury won the under-14 match by an innings and 66 runs. D. Fraser, who made 73 not out for Canterbury, also took 10 wickets for the match. Scores:—
Under-16.—Otago 145 and 108/ 6 dec. (Blair 32 not out, Brady 25; Whittaker 2/8) tied with Canterbury 78 and 175/5 (Smith 67, Sargisson 48, Penny 29). Under-14.—Canterbury 202 beat Otago 48 and 88 (Williams 35: Ball 3/20, Fraser 2/6, Ford 2/ 10).
