Tokelauan Families

AUCKLAND, Dec. 6.

Three Tokelauan families and 22 single women arrived at the Auckland Airport today to begin a new life in New Zealand.

It is the second group to arrive under a resettlement scheme administered by the Island Territories and Maori Affairs Departments.

The three families will be employed by the Forest Service at Rotoehu, and the single women will work in hospitals.

Eleven of the women, all members of the London Missionary Society, will work in hospitals of the Auckland Hospital Board.

The other 11 are Roman Catholics. Two will work at Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Auckland; three at Palmerston North Mater Miseriocordiae Private Hospital; two at the Aubert Home of Compassion, in Wanganui; two at the Wellington Calvary Hospital; and two at the Island Bay Home of Compassion in Wellington.

Children Entertained. The board of directors of the Christchurch Y.M.C.A. recently entertained a party of children from Templeton Hospital and Training Centre at the association’s rooms. The guests included two girls sponsored by the board. The Y.W.C.A. junior ballet class provided items and Christmas gifts were distributed.
