KAWERAU STRIKE

New Proposal To Men

AUCKLAND, Dec. 6,

The 450 men on strike at the Kawerau mill of the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company will hear tomorrow the terms of a new agreement worked out on Monday for a return to work.

The men, all members of the Northern Federation of Woodpulp, Paper and Paper Products Workers’ Union have been on strike for better pay and other benefits for 23 days. The agreement was worked out by the federation, the Federation of Labour president (Mr T. E. Skinner), the company and the company’s union at a seven-hour meeting in Auckland. The men are expected to meet at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
