RESTAURANT LICENCE
No Objections To Granting
(From Our Own Reporter)
WELLINGTON, Dec. 6.
The Licensing Control Commission is prepared to grant a restaurant licence to the Charles Restaurant of 202-204 Cashel street, Christchurch, if final inspections by the police, fire and health authorities prove satisfactory. This decision was given by the Commission in Wellington.
Mr R. Chapman, counsel for the applicant company, said the restaurant had been operating as an eating-house. The application was in respect of a restaurant of 10 four-person tables. There had been a misunderstanding about a smaller room, but this had now been converted to an anteroom. Police and health officers produced evidence that the required standard had been reached.
In evidence, Mr K. Lelkish. governing director of the enterprise, said he had experience as chef, wine-steward, and waiter. He had had to turn clients away because of the “no liquor” rule. There were no objections to the granting of the licence.
