“AMAZING” REQUEST

SYDNEY, Dec. 6.
The father of two children who was charged in Sydney quarter sessions today with a sex offence against an 11-year-old girl, asked to be sterilised.
He said an operation was his only chance to retain his sanity and lead a normal life.
The man, Robert Sweeny, aged 41, a labourer, of Balgowlah, a northern harbourside suburb, appeared before Judge Hidden for a sentence after pleading guilty to having indecently assaulted the girl at north Balgowlah, on August 19. Judge Hidden remanded Sweeny for sentence to a date to be fixed.. The Judge said he wished to study Sweeny’s case thoroughly and receive more detailed psychiatric evidence.
“This is an amazing request.” he said.
