Speed Limits
Sir, —The objections of councillors of the Paparua County Council to the proposal to reduce the 50-m.p.h. zone on Blenheim road to 30m.p.h. do not seem to make sense. As the distance is only about four-fifths of a mile the extra travelling time, at the lower speed, would be about 50 seconds. A suggestion, by one councillor, that the limit over the other two miles of the road be raised to 40-m.p.h. would mean a saving of about one minute. What could we do with the minute saved?— Yours, etc., HORNBj’. December 6, 1966.
