Bequest To Diocese
The sum of £lOO has been left by a city merchant to the Diocese of Christchurch with the suggestion that it be used as the nucleus of a fund to increase the stipends of the clergy.
This bequest is contained in the will of Eric William Cuddon, who died in Christchurch on November 15, but in making it Mr Cuddon has not bound the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Rev. W. A. Pyatt) in any way. Mr Cuddon has also left £lOO to the South Island Tuberculosis Association, and £lOO to the Canterbury and West Coast branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society. £5OO To Church The sum of £5OO has been left to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, in Christchurch, for the general purposes of the parish, under the will of Agnes Coutts, a widow, who died in Christchurch on October 28. Bequests of £5O each to the Presbyterian Overseas Mission Fund, the Mission to Lepers, the New Zealand Foundation of the Blind, and C.0.R.5.0. have been made under the will of Flora Matheson, a spinster, formerly of Brooklands, who died in Christchurch on October 20. Probate of all three wills was granted recently in the Supreme Court.
