Hazy Light—Disciple Win Beaumont Double

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Hazy Light, in the W. B. Naylor Handicap, and Disciple, in the Beaumont Champion Hack Handicap, completed a double worth £66 3s for £1 at the Beaumont Jockey Club’s meeting yesterday. The on-course turn over was £17,564 10s, of which £1990 was bet on the double. This was a decrease of £8921 on last year, when the meeting was held on a Saturday. The weather was fine and the track firm. There was a good crowd for a Monday. After the Beaumont Champion Hack Handicap an inquiry was held into interference over the concluding stages by the winner, Disciple (B. J. Anderton) to Ronda (J. M. Cappie), which finished second. The committee heard evidence from the stipendiary steward and Cappie and a statement from Anderton. It found that although there had been a tightening short of the post this had not affected the result. The judges decision was allowed to stand

T. P. Brown, the rider of Segundo in the same race, attempted to go where there was insufficient room over the concluding stages. He was cautioned by the stipendiary steward.

Brown said that his horse was full of running at that stage and had been disappointed for a run earlier in the run home. Results:
