INTERCITY TRAINS
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, Dec. 4. The French Government has decided to go ahead with the construction of overhead inter-cities monorail lines for passenger trains running on air cushions. A full-size experimental line is expected to go into service in 1968, the Information Secretary, Mr Bourges said after a cabinet meeting. He declined to say which cities it will link.
The “aero-train” will run overhead on a concrete track shaped like an inverted “T” linking cities about 62 to 94 miles apart, such as Paris and Orleans, Lyons and Grenoble or Rouen and Le Harve.
