“A Great Battler "
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 5. Nine years and three days after he swallowed caustic soda as a baby, 10-year-old Ray Marsom today faced one of the most extensive and critical operations of the 180 he has undergone since his accident At Middlemore Hospital a team of Auckland surgeons successfully completed an operation to bypass his damaged gullet
by replacing it with a piece of bowel. Tonight Ray’s parents, Mr and Mr W. H. Marsom, of Mount Wellington, visited their son in hospital and found him still smiling. “He’s a very sick boy,” said Mr Marson. “The work of the medical team was wonderful. “Ray is a great battler but we have some anxious days ahead.”
