CHRISTCHURCH READINGS Situation.—A depression centred east of Canterbury is moving away while another depression over the Tasman Sea is advancing towards central New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate variable winds; cloud increasing with scattered rain; temperatures mild. Nelson and the Sounds.—Fresh to strong north-west winds, gales about Cook Strait; dull and mild with periods of rain. Marlborough and the Kaikoura Coast.— Northerly winds predominating, strong in some exposed places, cloudy with occasional rain developing; mild. Buller and Westland.—Moderate north-east winds predominating; overcast with periods of rain, moderate temperatures. Outlook.—All districts: unsettled. FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
