DRIVE FOR MEMBERS
Life-Savers In Freshwater A membership drive by the Christchurch Still Water Lifesaving Club has been postponed to next year. The drive in Canterbury schools was interrupted because many prospective members have been sitting examinations. The club, which was formed three years ago by the Royal Life-Saving Society, patrols swimming holes in the Christchurch area and sends lifesavers with picnic parties. The club captain (Mr B. Leask) said that in spite of the failure of the drive the club would still patrol swimming holes and join picnic parties at the swimming holes. The club has also given demonstrations to parent-teach-er associations on external cardiac massage and artificial resuscitation.
The club holds a weekly meeting on Monday evenings at 6 p.m. at the Centennial Pool for training. Prospective members were invited, Mr Deask said. Membership forms could be obtained from the Centennial Pool or from the Canterbury branch of the Royal LifeSaving Society.
