MARCHING AT KAIAPOI

Little Between Top Teams The standard of the top teams in the Kaiapoi Marching Association championships, held yesterday at Rugby Park, Kaiapoi, was the highest for many years. The two top senior teams were separated by only 25 points. Thirty-five teams from the Canterbury centre, three Timaru and two Ashburton teams marched before the judges' panel. The vice-president of the Kaiapoi association (Mr J. Crofts) presented the following trophies and medals: — Midget.—B grade: Champion team, Five Star Motors; display march, J.D. Kilties; champion leader, Avon-Aires; champion marker, Kaiapoi Robinettes, Gaytime and Avon - Aires (equal); secret number, J.D. Kilties. A grade: Champion team. Blue Star Taxis; display march, Gaytime Guards; champion leader, Blue Star Taxis; aggregate. Blue Star Taxis; champion marker, Gaytime Guards; costume, Blue Star Taxis: secret number, Blue Star Taxis.

Junior.—B grade: Champion team, Gaytime Royal Guards: display march, Gaytime Royal Guards; champion leader, Mobilguards: champion marker, Northernettes; secret number, Gaytime Royal Guards. A grade: Champion team, Modern-Age; display march, Modern-Age; champion leader, Modern-Age; champion marker, Modern-Age; aggregate, Modern-Age: costume, Motorways Royal Guards; secret number, Motorways Royal Guards. Senior.—B grade: Champion team. Commodores; display march, Commodores; champion leader, Commodores; champion marker, Commodores; secret number, Commodores. A grade: Champion team.
