Prospect “Grim”
fV.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 4. The prospect of being without fresh bread for five days over both the Christmas and New Year holidays sounded “a bit grim,” the chairman of the Consumer Council, Mr G. E. Wood, said today. He was commenting on a Wellington Baking Trades Employees’ decision not to bake on the Friday nights before Christmas Eve and New Year. Auckland and Canterbury bakeries will also be closed for both holiday breaks.
