Surfers Chosen To Tour Aust.

(N.Z. Press Association’ WELLINGTON. Ten surfers selected to tour Australia next month with the New Zealand surf-lifesav-ing team were announced after the final trial at Titahi Bay yesterday.

The teams is: B. Adams (Waikanae), G. Allnutt (Eastern United), R. Gough (Lyall Bay). A. Griffin (Lyall Bay), M. Harvey (Lyall Bay), R. Harker (Red Beach), N. Penwarden (Maranui), G. Sutton (Waikanae). Juniors: W. Clow (Fitzroy), G, Dempsey (East End).

New Zealand's top beltman and proven international, Harker, is selected provisionally. He will undergo a special trial in Wellington later this month as he had to withdraw from the weekend's events because of illness.

The Gisborne swimmer, Adams, gained an unexpected place with a fine win in yesterday’s belt race when he beat his clubmate. Sutton, by . 3sec. : D. Henderson (Worser Bay) also swam well to take the surf race when he beat Allnutt and Sutton, but the selectors could not find a place for him. called upon much yesterday, having obviously impressed sufficiently on Saturday when Harvey won the belt race and Gough showed good all-round form.

The Taranaki youngster, Clow, won both junior events, the belt and the surf race. Another Taranaki representative, Dempsey, gained his selection witji a brilliant showing on Saturday.

The national pool swimming champion, R. Walker (Lyall Bay) had his chance yesterday in the surf race, but failed after appearing to head off course. Final day results;—
