Ashley Three centuries were scored on hard, true pitcches when the fifth round of the Ashley cricket competition began on Saturday. The North Canterbury representative wicket-keeper. R. Judson, christened the newly-laid grass pitch at Oxford with a dashing 121 not out in 80 minutes. At Woodend, R. Merrin scored 108, while at Kaiapoi P. Williams made 103 and featured in an exciting last wicket stand. J. Doody scored quickly also for his 60. Best of the bowling figures were W. Wilson’s six for 26, D. McAllisters six for 55, and E. Shipley's second century this season, the continuation of a run of high scores by B. Ridgen, and South Malvern’s first win this season, highlighted play in the Malvern competition. Shipley and Ridgen both made centuries for the competition leader, Greendale; Ridgen's last three scores have been 85 not out, 75 and 102 not out.
