Referees Silent

(X Z Press Assn—Copyright) CARDIFF.

The Welsh Society of Rugby Referees has decided to make no statement in reply to criticism of two of its members by the manager of the Australian touring Rugby team, Mr W. McLaughlin. The secretary, Mr S. John, who announced this after a two-hour meeting on Friday, said that the society would leave the matter in the hands of the governing body (the Welsh Rugby Union) to act as it saw fit. Mr McLaughlin had criticised Mr D. M. Hughes (Llanelly) and Mr O. P. Bevan (Methyr Tydfil), who refereed the Wallabies’ matches at Newport and Swansea, respectively. Both were present at the meeting.
