MISTAKEN TARGET
Village Hit In Vietnam
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, Nov. 30.
United States troops mistakenly fired an artillery barrage on a Vietname village today, killing three civilians and wounding 19 others, a military spokesman said. American officials said nine 105 mm. shells fired by United States Ist Infantry Division troops landed on the village of Tan Uyen, 45 miles northwest of Saigon as a result of a tragic accident. The spokesman said that an initial report indicated the mistake was caused by an error in plotting of firing data.
