Attendance Is Stable
Attendance at the Christchurch Federated Business and Professional Women’s Club meetings was remarkably stable, reported the president (Miss T. G. Eldridge) at the annual meeting. Interesting and worthwhile programmes included talks on floral art, Medical Aid Abroad, the International Red Cross, and sharing of hobbies. Social functions were also held. Nine rugs, 14 pairs of bed socks, two pairs of bootees, a pair of pilchers and a bed jacket had been knitted and given for local relief. Members assisted with various street day appeals. The annual bring-and-buy raised more than £2B. Contributions were made for the sponsorship of a child under the Save the Children Fund scheme, and a parcel had been sent. Miss Eldridge discussed the world-wide theme for members’ study next year—“ The changing world with special emphasis on employment.” Officers elected are:—president, Miss T. G. Eldridge; vice-president, Miss M. Grant; secretary, Miss L. G. Purchas: minute secretary, Miss M. Willers; treasurer, Miss J. Osborne; assistant treasurer. Miss M. Roxburgh.
