Mackenzie To Run Again...

The unofficial holder of the New Zealand 100 yards record, D. W. Mackenzie (University) will make his first serious competitive appearance of the season in the inter-club track and field meeting at Rugby Park tomorrow.

Mackenzie, the present New Zealand quarter-mile champion and a former holder of both the 100 and 220 yard titles, ran in a 660 yards event at the first inter-club meeting of the season and has not competed since. He has not yet raced over any of his specialist distances at Rugby Park.

He has been entered for the 220 yards and half-mile events at tomorrow’s meeting,

although it is doubtful whether he will contest the longer distance.

There is also a 75 yards post entry sprint on the programme and there is a good chance that he may race in this instead. Mackenzie has been selected in the Canterbury team to contest the triangular meeting against Southland and Otago on December 3.
