Vandals Damage Street Lighting Fixtures

Vandals had damaged street lights at Bridle Path road to the extent of about £5O, the Heathcote County Council was told last night. “They must have been observed,” said the chairman (Mr C. D. Le Comte). The damage had been done on an uninhabited part of the road, and involved the lamp glasses, said the electrical inspector (Mr A. Emmett). Mr Le Comte said the police were investigating. The council appealed to. residents to report any similar incidents.

M.E.D. Line.—lt was reported that a letter had been written to the M.E.D. saying there was some apprehension as to the route of the proposed new power line from Heathcote Valley to Redcliffs, and that the council must approve the route.

Dispensations.—“l think people do. this sort of thing, expecting relief from the council,” said Cr. I. L. Rents.—Four county house rentals were raised 5s to £2 a week from December 1, with lettings to new tenants to be at £3 a week.
