NURSING AWARD

Sister D. M. McDonald, sister-in-charge of the outpatients’ department at Christchurch Hospital, was yesterday presented with the Eli Hamilton prize for 1966 by the chairman of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, Dr. L. C. L. Averill.

The founder of the award, Mr Eli Hamilton, died in Paris in 1930. After the First World War he spent some time in Christchurch Hospital. He left a fund in trust and the award to Sister McDonald was the thirty-third. Dr. Averill said the recipient had the human qualities so essential for a nurse.
