MASON BROS. TRADING

Satisfactory Year Seen

Mason Brothers, Ltd., Auckland heavy engineer and merchant, expects a satisfactory result for the current year in spite of a likely curtailing of volume in merchant companies by import restrictions.

Directors, in an interim report, say profit for the first six months improved on that for the same period last year. A steady interim dividend of 4 per cent has been declared. Last year, the total dividend was 9 per cent. The volume of trading and earnings in most sections continues to be satisfactory, they say.

The downturn in the results of the Christchurch subsidiary, Andersons, Ltd., continued into the current year but this trend has now been reversed.

Improved results are forecast for the remainder of the year.
