BRENTS HAS GOOD YEAR
Profit Jumps 22.7 p.c. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 22. Net profit of Brents, Ltd., Rotorua tourist house proprietor rose by £3590 or 22.7 per cent to £19,376 in the year to September 30. As announced, a bonus of 1 per cent has been added to the steady 10 per cent dividend. The earning rate on shareholders’ funds has risen from 11.6 to 13.3 per cent and that on capital from 22.5 to 27.6 per cent. The profit was after providing £335 more for depreciation at £8869 and £3522 more for tax at £18,367. The total dividend payment takes £7OO more at £7700. Directors say that the greatest problems encountered are increasing cost and that two new hotels now being built will bring added competition. Shareholders’ funds are £12,376 higher at £148,750.
