‘Ransack Red Guard H.Q.’ (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PEKING, Nov. 22. New evidence of discord among China’s Red Guard organisations is seen in a newspaper call for the ransacking of reactionary Red Guard headquarters in Peking. The newspaper, “East Is Red,” headlined a commentary on the situation in the capital: “Thoroughly smash the headquarters of the Red Guards of the capital’s colleges and universities who are ‘royalist’.”
To the Chinese “royalist” is a general term for a reactionary, rather than a monarchist. The commentary said more than two Red Guard teams had been formed in every Peking school and there were three Red Guard headquarters in the capital.
