Finn Heads R.A.C. Rally

About 100 survivors of 144 crews yesterday battled through fog, ice and snow on their way to Bathgate, in Scotland, the half-way mark in the 2400-mile Royal Automobile Club's international motor rally. Late yesterday—the third day of the rally—the leader was T. Makinen (Finland), driving a works B.M.C. Cooper S; followed by B. Soderstrom (Sweden) in a Ford Lotus Cortina. O. Eriksson (Sweden), in an Opel, was third, with last year’s winner. R. Aaltonen (Finland), in fourth place in a B.M.C. Cooper. Sylvia Osterberg (Sweden) led in the women's cup.
