POWER AT KAINGA
Answers To Requests
It could not agree to the Stewarts Gully-Kainga area being transferred to another supply authority, said the North Canterbury Electric Power Board, in reply to requests by the Waimairi County Council, on behalf of residents, for an improved supply. The finance committee, reporting on the letter to a meeting of the council said that Crs. D. B Rich and A. A. Adcock had met representatives of the board.
They had discussed the board’s higher domestic power rates as compared to those of the M.E.D., the need for a depot at Kainga for the payment of accounts, variations in voltage and the possible transfer of the supply to the M.E.D. The board had replied by letter, saying that the difference in charges was not as great as was at first thought. Consideration would be given to establishing a depot. Checks would be made before next winter to see that a satisfactory voltage was available at peak periods.
