The Sydney swimmer, Miss K. Wainwright, clipped s.9sec off the world 880 yards freestyle record on Saturday. Miss Wainwright lowered the previous record, established by an American, Miss P. Caretto, in Cardiff in August, 1965, from 9min 56.25ec to 9min 50.3 sec.
