MANUAL WORK
Board Has 82
Teachers
The Canterbury Education Board now had 82 manual training teachers, the manual and technical committee told the board yesterday. This came after the offering of six new positions at Casebrook and Breezes Road Intermediate Schools. Eight were employed at intermediate schools, 10 at district high schools and 13 at primary manual training centres.
The committee reported that the opening of the Breezes road intermediate school next year and the attendance of both Form 1 and 2 pupils of contributing schools at Casebrook Intermediate School had reduced the number of pupils attending manual training centres. This meant that two rooms of the four-roomed centre at Sydenham school could be closed at the end of this year.
