Vegetable And Fruit Prices
Fruit and vegetables were tn very good supply and demand at Christchurch produce markets yesterday. Prices generally were down on the good prices of last week Lettuces were cheaper than usual at 3s to 8s a dozen. A few spring carrots from Ranglora sold at 12s a dozen bunches. Other prices supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Association were:— Silver Beet.—2s fid to 7« a case. Beetroot.—Spring, 13s fid dozen. Old, 9s a half case. Pumpkins.—Bos to 120 s a sack. Cabbages.—Spring, 3s to 6s a case. Golden Acre. 5s to Ils fid a case. Carrots.—Old. 18s to 21s a case. Cauliflowers—ss to 11s fid • case. Onions.—2os to 30s a bag. Parsnips.—ss a case. White Turnips.—7s a dozen bunches. Potatoes.—los to 12s a sugar bag. Spring Onions.—ls to 9s a dozen bunches. Radishes.—4s to 7s a dozen bunches. Parsley.—ld a bunch. Leeks.—ss 6d a case. Spinach.—ss to Ils a case. Cucumber*.—lss to 25s a case. Asparagus.—2s to 2s 7d a bundle. Rhubarb.—l2s to 16s a case. Tomatoes.—2s fid to 4s Id a pound. Strawberries.—2s to 3s 9d a punnet. Grapefruit.—27s 6d to 37s fid a case. Chinese Gooseberries.—lss fid a tray.
