After the New Zealand Derby Stakes at Addington, D. Mangos, the driver of Stewart Hanover, was fined £l5 for moving ground abruptly at the seven furlongs, causing Stylos (D. C. Watts) to be pushed wide. The judicial committee questioned both drivers and viewed a film of the incident before making its decision.

Indecision, which was on the inside of him, had his tongue over the bit and was running greenly, and moved out taking Friendly Tom’s position. As a result Friendly Tom was unable to regain correct gait for some time.
