Rival Plan Revealed (N.Z.P.A -Reuter —Copyright) LONDON, November 20. The rival consortium fighting Lord Thomson for “The Times” would merge with another British morning paper, the “Guardian," press reports said today. Several Sunday newspapers carried front-page reports of the latest developments in Lord Thomson’s attempt to add “The Times" to his 100newspaper empire. Britain’s monopolies commission now is deciding whether the Thomson takeover would be in the public interest. Anthony Berry, a member of the famous Kemsley family —which sold its £11,250,000 newspaper chain to the Canadian-born millionaire—and the Welsh newspaper proprietor Claude Morris have revealed they are preparing a rival take-over plan.
