Curves At 70 m.p.h.

<N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 17. “All curves will be 70 miles an hour,” said the chief highways engineer (Mr F. A. Langbein). when describing to the National Roads Board a new section of the AucklandHamilton motorway to be built south from Drury. The board accepted Mr Langbein's recommendation that the first part of the route taken should lie just east of the State highway No. 1. This route takes advantage of a long, straight boundary line south of Ararimu road and avoids cutting through the middle of valuable farmland.

New Citizen.— An oath of allegiance was taken by Mrs Caroline Comelie Shackel, a school teacher, of 31 Junction road, in a naturalisation ceremony at the Halswell County Council chambers on Thursday night. The ceremony was the first of its kind held before the I council.
