House Sold For £3600
A two-storey house at 172 Bealey avenue was sold for £3600 at public auction on Thursday. The property was offered on account of the estate of P. J. Twomey, who was well-known as the “Leper Man,” by Sherris and Wilson, Ltd., acting in conjunction with E. V. Joliffe and Company. The auctioneer was Mr Colin Robertson.
The house has three livingrooms, five bedrooms, kitchen, sunroom, and bathroom. Outbuildings on the section of 38 perches include a tworoomed office, garage, workshop, and laundry. The land is zoned residential B. The initial bid was £2OOO. There were two bids of £5OO, two of £250, and two of £5O.
Mr A. P. Stubberfield’s roughcast bungalow at 118 Victoria street was passed in at £14,600. The sale was held by Ford and Hadfield, Ltd., acting in conjunction with George Anderson and Son. The auctioneer was Mr Denys Chapman. The house has three livingrooms, three bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen.
Outbuildings on the section of 42 perches, zoned commercial B, include a garage, washhouse, and workshop. A city property at 22 Salisbury street, on a section of 24 perches, zoned residential C, was passed in at £4lOO. The house has five bedrooms, livingroom, diningroom, breakfastroom, kitchen, pantry, and bathroom.
A five-roomed house on a section of 14.9 perches, at 31 Buckleys road, Linwood, was passed in at £llOO. The house is in need of renovation.
Both properties were offered by Tonks, Norton and Company, Ltd. The auctioneer was Mr L. W. Aitken.
