Didn’t See The Dog
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 18. In canvassing the Tamaki electorate, the Labour candidate. Mr K. Ryan, unintentionally annoyed a householder in Apirana aienue, Glen Innes.
On the front lawn of a home was a sign readins: “All trespassers. all Mormon missionaries and all salesmen beware of the dog.’’
Underneath this had been printed: “All survivors will be prosecuted.”
Undeterred. Mr Ryan went in and knocked on the door. There was no reply.
On the street he was accosted by the house-
holder, vho reported Mr Ryan's entry on to his property to the police. No action was taken, nor did Mr Ryan see the dog.
Both Mr Ryan, aged 35, a lawyer and his twin brother, Gerald, an accountant have been taking part in the election campaign. They bear close resemblance and often surprise householders by the candidate announcing himself and his brother standing alongside.
The brothers have shared the platform as well. They have twin brothers, Frank and Tony, aged 31, but so far the younger twins have taken no part in the campaign. They also resemble their older brothers.
