REFUSED PERMIT
Test Player For Dunedin (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. The Department of Labour in Wellington has refused a permit of entry to the Pakistani test cricketer, Mufasirul Haq, whose services the Dunedin Albion cricket club was seeking for the next five years.
Yesterday, the president of the club, Mr C. W. Collie, said: “The grounds given for refusal to issue a permit of entry were that Mufasuril had no close relatives in this country and that there was no shortage of skilled worker in his trade in New Zealand.”
The club had negotiated for the services of the Pakistani fast left-arm bowler, offering him his fare to New Zealand anil helping to find him employment. In return, the club wanted to sign him as a player-coach for a period of five years.
