THEFT OF FLAGS

Two men called at the Central police station during the lunch hour today and claimed that they were implicated in the theft of flags from the Auckland branch of the Returned Services’ Association, Sergeant D. E. Henderson told Mr A. A. Coates, S.M.
Sergeant Henderson said the two men also claimed that a man now before the Court was innocent of a charge concerning the theft of the flags. Jack Melee Beere, aged 20, a driver, had earlier admitted a charge of stealing a Union Jack and a Returned Services’ Association emblem flag on October 14.
