SATURDAY BREAD
Objections By
Union
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 18. A special meeting of nearly 200 Baking Trades Employees’ Union members and associated workers voted unanimously today to deliver an ultimatum to bakehouses planning to bake on Fridays for Saturday deliveries. The meeting decided that all bakehouses should be given until Wednesday to observe union policy or a general meeting, to be held next Friday, would take action to declare the bakeries “black.”
At present union members work from Sundays to Thursdays—often 16 hours on Thursdays.
