LORDSHIP BEATEN Win To Waitaki Hanover

Waitaki Hanover gave further evidence of his sprinting prowess when he beat Lordship by more than two lengths in the New Zealand Free-for-All at Addington Raceway yesterday.

Waitaki Hanover was in front from the start. He had only a neck advantage over Lordship, which had trailed him from the start, racing to the straight, but just inside the furlong be drew away.

He gave D. J. Townley the easiest of drives over the final 100 yards to win by two lengths and a half. He paced his last mile in 2min 1 4-ssec, the final half-mile in 59sec, and the last quarter in 29 4-5 sec.

Lordship battled on for second without showing quite as much dash as expected. Full Sovereign held third through-

out, finishing two lengths and a half from Lordship. Doctor Barry paced an encouraging race for fourth. He began smoothly, but was pushed back a shade in the middle stages. He sprinted up from last at the half-mile and dropped back a little in the run home. However, he was not racing at his best distance.
